To celebrate our 'La Dolce Vita' Giveaway this month (scroll to the bottom for more details!), we spoke to Amelia Bainbridge, founder of Auree - the jewellery brand originally inspired by Amelia's nonnas; and which continues to glean inspiration for their jewelled creations from exciting travel, places and people’s stories of adventure.

Where did the inspiration for Auree come from?
Before founding Auree, I had worked in the jewellery industry for 10 years and saw a gap in the market for jewellery that was both beautiful and affordable. I thought it was about time that I started something of my own to achieve this! Our collections are classic, the pieces are designed to travel through life with you and to be loved by generations. Auree is inspired by my grandmothers - one, a vivacious and daring traveller, the other a phenomenal multi-tasker. Both took on life with a contagious enthusiasm and energy. The name Auree was also one of my grandmother’s middle names, and means ‘golden one’ in Italian. What is your proudest business moment so far?
My proudest moment so far has to be following our latest round of hiring at Auree. I feel so lucky to have such a great team to work with and I’m excited about what we can all achieve together.
We hear you love Italy, what is it that draws you there? Can you tell us about your favourite Italian adventure so far?
I went to Italy for my honeymoon, so it was a carefree holiday wrapped in the happiness of newly minted marriage but whatever stage you are at, Sicily is just wonderful. So much so, that I based our first collection at Auree on the places we visited there. Roman, Greek, Moorish, Spanish (and of course Italian) influence means that it has a richness of history, art, architecture and culture you will struggle to find elsewhere. Italian food is also my absolute weak spot and I had some of the happiest times of my childhood in Italy. From north to south, it’s a country busting with architecture, different tastes and landscapes that I love returning to again and again. I also love the generations of experience that come with the workshops we partner with in Italy.
If you had to have one pasta dish for the rest of your life, what would it be and why?
Spaghetti alle vongole. This reminds me of very happy Summer holidays by the beach. It would ideally come with the sound of the sea in the background, warm sunshine and an icy glass of cold white wine.
What is next on your adventure list?
Next on my adventure list is Romania. I have read so much about this wonderful country and I’m dying to go there and explore - especially in the summertime when all the flowers are out.
