Sustainability
We have learned so much from La Cultura of pasta making. How to cook better, how to eat better, and most importantly, how to treat our planet better.
Where we are
“Italianità” (“Italian-ness)” is not just about living la dolce vita. Abiding by the Italian principles of simplicity, community and resourcefulness, we follow a “reduce, reuse, recycle” model. We know we still have a way to go, but here are a few milestones that we are proud of:
- Shifting to 100% recyclable or compostable packaging
- Implementing our reusable packaging scheme
- Introducing 100% recyclable, paper-based insulation to keep your food cool & fresh on its way to you
We love our planet
We converted to 100% PLASTIC FREE
PLA (Polylactic acid) materials &
compostable cardboard
Our mission
Our mission is to help people enjoy a five star trattoria experience, but from their homes and with less waste. While developing the concept for his fresh pasta business, our founder Alessandro was shocked to learn that over 80% of food goes to waste in a typical fine dining restaurant. Our pre-order model, predictive technology and pre-portioned product means we only order what we need and so food waste is minimal.
I want to know more
Can I recycle my packaging?
Yes, all our packaging is recyclable or biodegradable. From our tagliatelle pouches to our ravioli trays, 98% of our packaging is made of recyclable cardboard and our sauce sachets are fully biodegradable.
How do you deal with food wastage?
By using predictive models for planning orders and pre-portioning our food, we have very minimal food waste. Any dishes we do not sell are not destined for landfill - we’re working with City Harvest London to redistribute our food waste to their network of local charities and schools that provide food support to vulnerable people.
Have Pasta Evangelists signed up to the Better Chicken Commitment?
Whilst PASTA EVANGELISTS currently uses no chicken in our menu, we have signed on to the Better Chicken Commitment to raise animal welfare standards across the entire industry.
I’m feeling creative. Do you have any tips for repurposing your packaging at home?
Of course! We love finding resourceful ways to give materials a new life - the liner in our boxes, for example, is a 100% recyclable and made from paper. We've loved seeing how your little ones have repurposed the liner for arts and crafts, and even seeing how pets have liked to climb inside the liner for a snuggle! P.s don't forget to hang on to our ice packs for summer picnics…
