WHICH PASTA SAUCES ARE VEGETARIAN?

There are many classic Italian pasta sauces that are vegetarian. Marinara is a tomato-based sauce that goes well with orecchiette, while it’s spicier cousin Arrabbiata is excellent with penne. Even the traditionally meaty sauces can be adapted with a vegetarian twist, like our ragu made from lentils.

How to pair pasta and sauces

IS FILLED PASTA VEGETARIAN?

This depends entirely on what the pasta is stuffed with. As long as it is not stuffed with meat or fish (unless pescetarian), you can rest assured that the stuffed pasta is vegetarian. We offer many vegetarian-friendly stuffed pasta varieties, like our spinach and ricotta ravioli.

WHY ISN'T PESTO VEGETARIAN?

Many pestos are not vegetarian because they use hard Italian cheeses like Parmigiano-Reggiano as an ingredient. This type of cheese uses rennet, which is procured from young cows. However, there are many delicious veggie-friendly pesto alternatives you can try that don’t include Italian hard cheese.
