Lasagne

Lasagne, the ultimate comfort food and perhaps one of the most popular pasta types. Derived from the latin word ‘laganon’, traditionally, these wide pasta strips are layered, with a meat sauce, béchamel and parmesan layers nestled in between each pasta strip. The pasta used for lasagne may be either ‘al uovo’ (with egg), or made ‘con spinaci’ added to the dough, thus giving the dish a verdant green hue. Whilst traditionally made using a rich ‘red’ sauce, white sauces made from ingredients including mushrooms may also be used to create a vegetarian lasagne.
