WHAT IS PESTO MADE OF?
There are many different variations of pesto, but the classic pesto alla Genovese is made using basil, extra virgin olive oil, grated cheese (usually Parmigiano Reggiano), pine nuts, garlic and salt.
IS PESTO VEGETARIAN AND VEGAN FRIENDLY?
A classic pesto alla Genovese is not vegetarian due to the inclusion of Parmigiano Reggiano. However, there are many types of pesto and some of the best are in fact vegan.
