Gnocchi

What is Gnocchi?

Gnocchi is commonly known for being fluffy pillows of joy filled with potato and is a type of pasta.

These soft little dumplings hail from the Italian region of Firenze and are made using semolina flour and potatoes. The decision to add ‘uovo’- egg, however, is hotly debated across the country’s regions. Venetians for example ardently in favour, in contrast to those in the region of Emilia Romagna whom are vehemently against the addition. Regardless, these tasty little potato pillows are versatile in terms of their best cooking method. Whether you fancy gnocchi baked, pan-fried or poached, this pasta makes a great accompaniment to a selection of sauces, owed to their light and fluffy texture.
