Looking for stunning pasta in Britain’s second city? We’ve scoured every corner of the bustling Birmingham, to showcase some of our favourite Italian eateries within the city, for you to enjoy!
Cucina Rustica

Located in the heart of the city’s swanky Jewellery Quarter, Cucina Rustica takes pride in it’s delicious and authentic Italian fare, presented in an elegant and modern setting. Their menu is governed by season and availability, with local produce at the forefront of each dish. The quality of ingredients is especially evident in standout dishes like the tagliatelle con anatra, with sumptuous duck, porcini mushroom, truffle oil and cream - a dish that is unapologetically decadent and absolutely delicious. Their vegetarian fare is not something to be overlooked either - the gnocchi with walnuts, baby spinach and gorgonzola is likewise decadent, with classic flavour pairings, presented thoughtfully.
Gusto
Elegance resides at the heart of Gusto - with restaurants peppered across the country, Birmingham’s premium pasta joint is a real winner. Located in the swanky Grand Hotel, on Colmore Row, this stylish eatery boasts a pretty tasty array of Italian dishes. Highlights for us include the slow-cooked pork and tomato gnocchi with caramelised onion, Fior di Latte mozzarella, fennel and chilli - a super-indulgent anglo-Italian moment that is enough to spur many a return visit. Stand out smaller plates include the rich and decadent Sicilian caponata side, and the warm Puglian bread and olives, served with house-made olive oil, and an antipasto selection of mint, courgette and pepper, a mouth-watering celebration of lo stivale (the boot).
Laghi’s Deli

Not far from the famed Bournville, Laghi’s Deli has garnered somewhat of an impressive following itself among Birmingham natives. The award-winning restaurant & delicatessen, found on Islington Row, Edgbaston, prides itself on their authentic, handmade Italian fare, born from high-quality, fresh ingredients. Standout dishes include their carbonara - a faithful and decadent rendition of the roman classic, and their homemade ravioli, with burrata, smoked scamorza fondue and white truffle - both light and sumptuous at once!
Pasta di Piazza

Somewhat of a Birmingham institution, Pasta di Piazza resides at the heart of the city’s Jewellery Quarter - just look for the building adorned with flowers and green lanterns! The good people of Pasta di Piazza say they pride themselves on ‘fresh, delicious Italian food, reminiscent of those precious Italian summer evenings that are very close to [their] heart’. This can certainly be said of their fettuccine con pollo limone - while it is provocative to combine chicken with pasta, the light lemon sauce, paired with fresh asparagus and bright peas, ensure this dish evokes a sense of Italian romance.
Fumo

Birthed by the respected San Carlo group, Fumo Birmingham is an award-winning cocktail and cicchetti (Venetian-style tapas) joint located in the city’s banking district. This trendy dining spot, with its elaborate cocktails and stylish interior, boasts some serious pasta offerings. We especially enjoyed the paccheri with monkfish and prawns in a white wine and chilli sauce, and the cavatelli with sausage and borlotti beans - served in a clay pot to compliment the rustic nature of the dish. The tagliatelle Bolognese is slow-cooked for over 6 hours, resulting in a seriously sumptuous ragù!
Buonissimo

Dine al fresco on Buonissimo’s chic terrace, with some solid and authentic pasta offerings, including their fettuccine con ragû di pesce e Pomodorini - a deliciously light blend of fresh mussels, squid and king prawns, with bright cherry tomatoes, all lathered in a chilli and garlic oil. The pappardelle con funghi misti burro e salvia is a stunning veggie option, combining earthy wild mushrooms and sage in a robust ragù, with the perfect pasta lunga pairing - delicious!
