Dolcetto
Dolcetto, produced in the northwestern region of Piedmont, with DOCG Dolcetto coming from the areas of Dogliani, Diano d'Alba and Ovada and DOC Dolcetto wines coming from Alba, Acqui and Asti. Dolcetto is easier to grow than the other varietals found in Piedmont - Nebbiolo and Barbera. Therefore, it is usually found in cooler areas of Piedmont as it ripens earlier than the other varieties. Dolcetto tends to be a soft, fruit-forward wine with a deep ruby-purple colour and mild to moderate tannins.

Tasting notes
Dolcetto is characterised by black fruit notes, cocoa, black pepper and a hint of floral such as violet. Dolcetto pairs well with roasted vegetable dishes which makes it a great pairing for a roasted tomato sauce pasta dish. The acidity in the wine with play off of the acidity from the tomato quite well.
