Ah, Toscana… home to the Renaissance, to the immeasurable beauty of Florence and Siena, to the rugged Appenine Mountains, beaches on the Tyrrhenian, miles of olive groves and vineyards. But, most importantly – at least to us – Tuscany means food. Good food. And a lot of it!
We'd like to invite you to a enjoy a virtual Taste of Tuscany, a digital pasta masterclass intimately hosted by Roberta from her own kitchen in Berkshire. You’ll start by discovering more about Tuscany and its regional traditions from Roberta – who is Italian – and what it means to her. You'll learn how to make the classic pasta of the region: pappardelle, a long, flat and thick pasta that i toscani love to eat with wild boar ragu, another speciality of the region. You will then learn how to make a classic Italian ragu.
2 large eggs + 200g white flour OR 200g semolina + 80ml water
500 g. minced mixed meat (pork or beef)
1 stalk or 2 celery
3 bay leaves
1 garlic clove
500 g. mixed mushrooms (we used defrosted mushrooms)
1400ml tomato purée
1 glass of dry white wine (but if you want you can also use it red)
Extra virgin olive oil
If you cannot get the ingredients to make the filling or sauce, just let Roberta know what you have sitting in your fridge/pantry and she will guide you through an alternative using what you have available.
How it works: You will require access to Zoom video calling and a webcam. The day before the event you will be sent a Zoom link via email. If you have not received your Zoom link, please contact firstname.lastname@example.org.
Please note that, in order to preserve the intimacy of the event, we can welcome 1 person per ticket purchased to the digital event. We will have a maximum of 10 guests per digital event.
