The word gnocchi comes from the Italian nocchio, meaning 'knot in wood', and the same root for where Carlo Collodi got the name for his character Pinocchio, a puppet made from wood. Gnocchi have been a staple in Italy since Ancient Roman times, but have changed over time.
These giant gnocchi, for example, are stuffed with beautiful Mantova pumpkin, known across Italy as the king of pumpkins for its sweet flavour and vibrant orange flesh. We provide a sage-infused butter to cook the gnocchi in, bringing the aromas of the Italian autumn to your kitchen. Once fried, the giant gnocchi take on a golden hue and a softly crispy exterior. To serve, we supply a sprinkling of tangy Parmesan cheese to complete the dish in the most sumptuous way.
